Homemade Spiced Pumpkin Butter

I used to always be so intimidated about making my own ingredients like salad dressings or pumpkin butter! Of course, you can always buy your pumpkin butter but it’s so easy to make, why not just do it yourself!

Part of what I like about making your own ingredients is that you can control exactly what goes into each part of your recipe. That way you can avoid additional added sugars and preservatives and just stick with the good stuff. Plus, I think this helps with flavor too!

Often times what makes spreads like pumpkin butter shelf stable is that they have been pasteurized. While this process ensures that these spreads are safe to eat, they also kill a lot of the flavor. I prefer to use my own organic ingredients and simply store my homemade pumpkin butter in the fridge. Easy peasy.

How To Use Pumpkin Butter:

  • Spread it on toast
  • Stir it into oatmeal
  • Use in baked goods like blondies, brownies and oat bars
  • Use in place of jam in recipes for a fall flavor
  • Spread on waffles or pancakes
